I have never been a fan of expensive watches, though I still own a couple of moderately priced time pieces amongst my 2 Casios, 2 Swatches, 1 Swiss Army, 1 Zodiac, 1 Marks & Spencer and 2 Seikos. I do not consider myself to be a wrist watch collector, especially not when my father wore the same watch over 30 years untill the day he died. In my case, some were bought over the years at an impulse, some were bought due to desperation (forgot to bring a wrist watch or replacement for broken one while being away) and some were gifts to me.
Personally, I prefer understated watches, afterall watches serve one function and one purpose only, that is to tell you the time and the dates. Some were misled into thinking that certain watch has the magical ability in wooing opposite sex or makes the wearer appears more macho and sophisticated..... mmm... the last time I saw one, a watch is still a watch......do tell me if I am wrong.
Sitting in my drawer is my favourite Seiko Chronograph, some says it's the Poor man's Rolex (If you know which one I am referring to). Both are of similar design and size, it is no surprise that many have made comparison between them. By no means the Seiko is anywhere as intricate as the Submariner. It is however as hard wearing as the expensive counterpart. I can not remember the exact reason I bought it approximately 3 years ago, probably came home with it after a shopping trip accompanying my wife. It is true that boredom makes you do crazy things!!

Anyway, I tried to tighten a clip on the stainless steel clasp and overdid it somehow and the pin snapped as a result. So. it has stayed in my drawer for the past 6 months collecting wood dusts. One day, I came across a really well made leather strap from Seiko last week and I decided to 'resurrect' my long lost friend. Now, the stainless steel band has been replaced with a leather one, it looks different ....more elegant in a way. So, after 6 long months, the Seiko finally is back sitting comfortably on the back of my wrist. :-)
